I have been practising as a psychotherapist in the City of London since 2004. I support individuals to gain perspective, navigate challenges and make thoughtful decisions about their lives.
Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Many of the people I work with are highly capable professionals. They are often relied upon for leadership, judgement and advice, yet behind that responsibility they may be carrying complex personal pressures or facing difficult decisions.
My role is to offer a confidential space where you can step back, reflect and think clearly about what matters most.
My journey into psychotherapy began through my own experience as a client. Therapy helped me feel understood, grounded and more at ease in myself. It strengthened my sense of identity and belonging, something that continues to shape the way I practise today.
Because of this experience, I know how valuable it can be to have a thoughtful and attentive person beside you while navigating life's complexities.
I trained in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy and have completed further postgraduate training in Solution Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Family Constellations, trauma informed approaches and Somatic Experiencing.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I worked in advertising and later ran my own hospitality business in Soho. This experience gives me a grounded understanding of the pressures and responsibilities that often accompany professional life and leadership.
Alongside my clinical work, I also co-founded The Food Chain, a charity supporting people living with HIV/AIDS. And I served as an independent advisor to the City of London Police.
Today I work extensively with lawyers, financial services professionals, creatives and high net worth individuals. Many of them are managing significant responsibility while navigating private pressures.
Some clients come during moments of crisis or transition. Others arrive because they sense something in their lives needs reflection, clarity or change.
My aim is to help you develop greater insight, confidence and perspective as you move forward.
"It requires a particular set of skills to empower people to talk freely about their problems, drawing out not only the key difficulties but also underlying issues which may not have been apparent. I felt safe in the knowledge that our discussions were confidential and emotionally secure in the empathetic environment which Amanda provided, free to discuss concerns which otherwise might have remained buried, without anxiety or fear."
I practise Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, an approach that does justice to the whole person: mind, body, emotions and spirit. It represents a broad range of psychotherapeutic methods and each method recognises the self-healing capacities of the client.
My belief is that the relationship between client and therapist is crucial and therapy should be a humanising process for both parties. My receptivity, emotional responsiveness and level of personal skill is as relevant to the therapeutic process as my theoretical frame of reference or any techniques I might employ.
Integrity, acceptance, healthy contact and communication are the basis of an authentic meeting of equals in the therapeutic relationship.
Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy has its focus more on the here and now. The past is addressed only if it is relevant to you.
