This varies from person to person. Most clients find that 6–12 sessions are enough to make meaningful progress, though some benefit from longer-term work. I review your progress regularly so we can adjust the plan together and make sure you're getting what you need from each session.

The first session is an initial assessment where we explore what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like to achieve, and agree on the best approach going forward. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. It's also a chance for you to ask me any questions and see if we're a good fit for working together.

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of my practice and everything you share stays between us. The only exceptions are the standard ones required by law — if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if I am required to disclose information by a court of law. I'll explain this fully before we begin working together.

Yes. I understand that fitting appointments around work and family commitments can be difficult. I offer select evening appointments during the week as well as Saturday morning sessions. These slots are popular, so I recommend booking early to secure your preferred time.

I ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice or missed without contact will be charged at the full session rate. I understand that genuine emergencies arise, and I'll always try to be flexible where possible.

As a BACP accredited counsellor, some private health insurance providers do cover my sessions. Please check with your provider and mention my name and accreditation details when enquiring about coverage. I can provide receipts and any documentation needed for your claim.

Yes. I offer secure, confidential video sessions for clients who prefer the flexibility of working from home or who live outside the Leeds area. Online counselling is just as effective as in-person for most people and most issues. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection.

I use an integrative approach, drawing primarily on person-centred therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This means I tailor my methods to what works best for you. My style is practical and structured — I believe in giving you tools and insights you can use between sessions, not just during them.
